How to Spot Counterfeit Supplements (and Verify Yours)

How to Spot Counterfeit Supplements (and Verify Yours)

Counterfeit supplements are a real problem in India's fast-growing sports nutrition market. A fake tub can look almost identical to the original on the outside while containing anything inside — under-dosed protein, cheap fillers, or ingredients that were never declared on the label. Because you can't see or taste most of these differences, packaging checks and verification matter.

Start with where you buy. Prices far below the usual market rate, unknown sellers on marketplaces, and listings without a proper invoice are the most common routes for fakes. Buy from the brand directly or from authorised retailers whenever you can.

Then inspect the box itself. Look for a sealed, undamaged inner seal; a printed batch number, manufacture date and best-before date; an FSSAI licence number; and clean, correctly spelled printing. Blurry logos, misaligned labels, stickers covering dates, or a scoop that doesn't match the usual size are all reasons to be cautious. Once opened, unusual clumping, an off smell, or a taste that's clearly different from previous tubs are also red flags.

Every genuine Anatomy Sports product carries a hologram with a QR code and a unique 10-character authentication code. Scan the QR (or open Verify Product on this site), enter the code, and we'll confirm instantly whether it's a genuine code that we issued.

Pay attention to the result. If the code is genuine but the page says it has been checked before — and you didn't check it yourself — the code may have been copied onto a counterfeit box. If the code isn't recognised at all, don't consume the product. In either case, contact us with your purchase details and we'll help.
